| Carolyn M. Moffa, CRNP Carolyn M. Moffa, CRNP joined Cardiology Physicians in February 2006 as a nurse practitioner. A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse with a Master’s Degree and advanced training in a specialty area. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and received a Master of Science degree at the University of Delaware in 1995. Her undergraduate studies were completed at Holy Family University in Philadelphia, PA. There she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1983. Her extensive 20 year nursing background has been focused mainly on the care of cardiac and critically ill patients. She has worked in Cardiac Intensive Care Units, Telemetry Units, and Medical Intensive Care Units. Carolyn has previously worked as a nurse practitioner in the Adult Medical Practice at the Veterans Administration Hospital for six years before moving back into Cardiology and collaboratively practicing with a general cardiology group in Delaware from 2000 until 2005. At that time, Carolyn pursued education and study in Electrophysiology, Pacemakers, and Defibrillators. She attended multiple seminars and training sessions to become competent in the care of patients with electrophysiology diagnoses, and pacemakers or defibrillators. Carolyn successfully passed the “Examination of Special Competency in Cardiac Pacing and Cardioversion Defibrillation” for the Associated Professional in May 2005. The examination was administered by The Heart Rhythm Society, formerly known as The North American Society for Pacing and Electrophysiology (NASPE). In February 2006 Carolyn was offered the opportunity to join Cardiology Physicians. Her role with Cardiology Physicians includes the care of inpatients, as well as outpatients, under the direct supervision of a physician. She performs history and physical examinations, evaluates patients’ diagnostic studies and laboratory analysis. She implements a plan of care in collaboration with the cardiologist and she performs discharge planning and patient education. Carolyn evaluates patients with implantable defibrillators and permanent pacemakers. She retrieves information with these devices through “device interrogation” and makes appropriate programming changes to optimize patient benefit. Carolyn is an integral member of the practice and has proven to be a great asset not only to the physicians and staff with whom she works, but more importantly, to the patients in our practice. Carolyn was born in Philadelphia. She relocated to Delaware with her husband in 1989. She has 3 children, 1 boy and 2 girls. Carolyn enjoys spending time with her family doing outdoor activities. Her hobbies include gardening and playing golf with her husband and sisters. | ![]() |
